?? What’s new: The Administration announced that the release of the 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGAs) has been postponed. HHS and USDA originally aimed to release the new guidelines by the end of September or October. The DGAs form the foundations for school nutrition standards.
The details:
- HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has previously mentioned the desire to update the DGAs to align with the core tenets of the Make America Healthy Again movement.
- Federal law requires agencies to finalize guidelines by the end of 2025. However, HHS and USDA are working together to release the updated guidelines in early 2026.
What’s next: Some reports indicate the DGAs should be out shortly after the new year. SNA will continue to monitor the issue and provide updates.
